11th-14th December 2014. The Choral Scholars of Trinity College Cambridge travelled to Lincolnshire to perform Christmas Concerts in Grimsby and Louth, and evensong in Lincoln Cathedral. Amongst music by Ēriks Ešenvalds, Ola Gjeilo and Ben Parry, two of Owain’s arrangements were included in the programme (The Very Best Time of Year and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas), as well as Shepherds’ Cradle Song, written in late 2013 for the birth of Owain’s goddaughter, and recorded for release in 2015 by Trinity College Choir and Stephen Layton.
As well as singing in the 16-part ensemble, Owain also accompanied the choir on the tour, and played Vierne’s Carillon de Westminster as part of the concert programme. Music for evensong at Lincoln Cathedral included Howells’ Collegium Regale, and Jonathan Dove’s Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars. Owain’s Prelude on ‘O little town of Bethlehem’ was also included in mini-retinals before the concerts, and was the opening voluntary at evensong in Lincoln.
