Ensemble la Sportelle new release: Hymne à la Vierge

I’m thrilled to share the release of Hymne à la Vierge, the new album from Ensemble la Sportelle, which I had the great pleasure of conducting. This recording brings together a beautiful collection of sacred choral works in honour of the Virgin Mary, performed with the ensemble’s characteristic warmth, clarity, and devotion.

Hymne a la Vierge CD

For centuries, the figure of the Virgin Mary has inspired composers—from the Gregorian tradition to the Renaissance and into the present day. This programme, which I conceived and conducted, highlights that enduring continuity, juxtaposing the luminous polyphonies of Tomás Luis de Victoria, William Byrd, and Antoine Brumel with the more modern visions of Henryk Górecki, John Tavener, and my own Prière pour Marie.

Working regularly with Ensemble la Sportelle is always a joy, and this project was a particularly rewarding collaboration. Hymne à la Vierge is now available to purchase. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.
