I’m delighted to share the release of On Christmas Night, the newest album from the London Choral Sinfonia. Having worked with Michael Waldron and the LCS for many years as composer-in-residence, it’s a joy to see so many of our collaborations come together on one disc, and to celebrate the ensemble’s 10th anniversary with music that feels both rooted in tradition and full of new colour.
On Christmas Night features beloved melodies reimagined, reframed, or transformed. I’m especially pleased that several of my orchestrations feature here, many of which LCS audiences will know from their annual Christmas concerts at the Sinfonia Smith Square Festival. You’ll hear my orchestrations of Percy Fletcher’s Ring Out, Wild Bells, Holst’s Christmas Day, and a technicolour new version of O Holy Night, originally created by Max Pappenheim and expanded here for this album.
