New piece for Holst Singers

Holst Singers, Music Director Stephen Layton, have commissioned Owain to write a 10-minute work to be performed at their concert, Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The concert will take place at Southwark Cathedral on October 8th 2014 at 7.30pm.

“The Holst Singers join forces with the City of London Sinfonia as it embarks on a season of concerts celebrating the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare. Shakespeare’s inimitable words are given musical life in the works of Purcell, Finzi, Vaughan Williams and Mendelssohn. The exciting new talent of Owain Park also premieres a new work on this evening. As well as the Holst Singers, the concert features baritone Neal Davies as well as actors who will stage scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This event promises to be a wonderful fusion of expressive music and seminal words, and is not to be missed.”
